Overview: Help local children start the school year with confidence by supporting our Uniforms for Kids program! Volunteers assist with organizing, stocking, labeling, and packing school uniforms, as well as keeping our workspace clean, welcoming, and ready to serve families across the community. This hands-on opportunity is perfect for individuals who enjoy staying active, working behind the scenes, and making a meaningful impact on students and families in need.
Schedule:
Days: Tuesday and Wednesday
Time: 9:00a-1:00p
Location: Holmes Outreach Center 6190 Greenwell Springs Rd.
Volunteer Needs:
Volunteers per day: 4
Ages: Minors (age 14+) may volunteer but must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Up to six minors may accompany one adult.
Minor Volunteer Waiver: Must be printed, completed, signed by a parent, and brought on the day of service. You may print the waiver from Galaxy Digital and give it to the person in charge of the Dining Room upon arrival.
Tasks:
Stocking our “store” with uniforms to prepare for distribution.
Once distribution begins, getting uniforms from warehouse rooms for restocking shelves.
Organizing and straightening uniforms shelves on an ongoing basis.
Labeling uniforms with UFK bar codes.
Keeping our work rooms clean and organized—work areas, desks, uniform shelves, supplies, etc.
Helping pack uniforms for the parishes we serve.
Sweeping, mopping, taking out trash
Breaking down boxes.
Loading and unloading uniforms as needed
Check-In & Instructions:
Upon arrival, check in with Uniforms for Kids representative
Please sign in on the volunteer sign in sheet or volunteer kiosk if available
Dress & Safety Guidelines:
Long pants (capris acceptable for women)
Shirt with sleeves
Closed-toed shoes
Do not volunteer if feeling unwell the safety of volunteers, staff, and neighbors is our top priority.
Cancellations: If you are unable to volunteer on your scheduled day, please cancel via Galaxy Digital so another volunteer can participate.
