Bags of Hope - Sandwich Makers

SPECIAL NOTE: WE NO LONGER ACCEPT COURT APPOINTED VOLUNTEERISM. Please note that all volunteers must be at least 14 years of age to participate.

Overview:
St. Vincent de Paul distributes Bags of Hope to people in need 365 days a year. Guests take a bag as they exit the Dining Room after lunch; for many, this is their evening meal. Volunteers help prepare these bags, which may include a beverage, peanut butter crackers, a granola or breakfast bar, and a piece of fresh fruit — all donated items.

Schedule:

• Days: Monday, Thursday, Saturday

• Time: 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM

• Location: Dining Room, 220 St. Vincent de Paul Place, Baton Rouge, LA
  
  

Volunteer Needs:

• Monday: 10 volunteers

• Thursday & Saturday: 20 volunteers

• Ages: Children may volunteer if accompanied by an adult.

• Minor Volunteer Waiver: Must be printed, signed, and brought on the day of service.

• Group Rule: One certified adult may accompany up to six minors (certification for working with vulnerable populations required). Contact Connie Planche at 225-383-7837 ext. 302 for certification information.

Tasks:

• Make sandwiches

• Portion donated items into Ziploc bags
  
  

Parking & Directions:

• Enter from Florida Boulevard and St. Vincent de Paul Place.

• Park in the dining room lot facing Florida Boulevard (enclosed by a black wrought iron fence).

• Use the door accessible from this lot to enter the Dining Room.

Check-In & Instructions:

• When you arrive, please make sure to sign in via the sign-in book or by scanning the QR code posted throughout the dining room.

• A member of the dining staff will greet you and provide instructions for the session.
  
  

Dress & Safety Guidelines:

• Long pants (capris acceptable for women)

• Shirt with sleeves

• Closed-toed shoes

• Do not volunteer if feeling unwell — the safety of volunteers, staff, and participants is our top priority.

Cancellations: If you cannot attend after signing up, please remove your name from Galaxy Digital so another volunteer can participate.
